Get Ahead of the Game and Plan Early

Preparation is the key for being the Best Man and planning ahead will make your life a lot less stressful and allows you to actually enjoy your role and the big day.

6 Months before the Day

  • Have a chat with the Bride, Groom and Chief Bridesmaid about the wedding plans. This will let you know what will be expected of you in the coming months ahead.
  • Decide on the Ushers and their responsibilities with the Bride and Groom.
  • Start to make arrangements for the stag party find out who the Groom would like to invite and when they want to do it.
  • Start making preparations for your best mans speech.

3 Months before the Day

1 Month before the Day

  • Arrange the transport for you and the Groom to the ceremony.
  • Rehearse your speech but be open to new ideas that may come to you.
  • Check Groom has valid passports for the honeymoon if required.

1 Week before the Day

  • Wedding rehearsal.
  • Finalise your speech.
  • Check Groom has all documents for the wedding ceremony.
  • Check Groom has tickets for honeymoon if required.
  • Confirm all the bridal party ushers etc have suitable transport for the day.
  • Ensure all the Ushers know their duties.
  • Obtain a list of the important family members from the Bride and Grooms families so to inform the ushers of their seating arrangements for the ceremony.

The Day Before

  • Collect hired suits and accessories etc.
  • Double check the groom has all he needs.
  • Make sure you've got all the important phone numbers just in case you need to call any of them. Fully charge your mobile you're going to need it tomorrow.

The Big Day Pre Ceremony

  • Help the Groom with his tie etc the poor guys going to be a nervous wreck and make sure he looks smart.
  • Keep him calm and be supportive.
  • Check on buttonholes, rings, order of service sheets etc.
  • Obtain the rings and keep SAFELY till required .... no pressure.
  • Collect all cards to be read at the reception.
  • Get the Groom to the church with plenty of time to spare.

The Ceremony

  • Keep groom calm.
  • Stand on the right hand side with the Groom and present the rings.
  • Help photographer organise the wedding guests for the photo's.
  • Make sure everyone has transport to the reception.
  • Keep calm yourself your time is near.
